Tuesday 13th, November, United States President Donald Trump announced that he has nominated Indian-American Neomi Rao on DC Circuit. Neomi Rao replace Supreme Court justice Justice Brett Kavanaugh on DC Circuit Court of Appeals.
Currently Neomi Rao is handling charge as Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs administrator.
US President made the announcement a day ahead of schedule during Diwali Ceremony at the white house that Neomi Rao Attended.
“I won’t say today that I just nominated Neomi to be on the DC Circuit Court of Appeals, the seat of Justice Brett Kavanaugh,”
“She is going to be fantastic. Great person,”
After the announcement made by President, Neomi Rao thanks the President the “confidence” he has shown in her by nominating her to the powerful US court.
Neomi Rao, 45, would be the second Indian American judge after Sree Srinivasan on the DC Circuit, which has jurisdiction over important regulatory, national security, and separation of powers questions, If confirmed by the Senate.
Ms. Rao has previously served in all three branches of the federal government, and before taking on her current role in the executive branch, she was Associate Counsel and Special Assistant to the President for the George W. Bush administration. She has been known for promoting separation of powers in the three branches of government.
Neomi Rao has worked as associate professor of law at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School, where she set up the Centre for the Study of the Administrative State. She graduated from Yale University and the University of Chicago Law School.
